Cecilia Duarte, PhD

Dr. Cecilia Duarte completed her undergraduate degree at Boston College and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Rhode Island. After completing her Fellowship at Brown University’s Medical School Consortium, Dr. Duarte worked in school, inpatient and outpatient community settings.

She specializes in working with adults, couples and families navigating formative moments across the lifespan. Her expertise is in the areas of depression, anxiety, trauma and grief. Dr. Duarte uses primarily a Psychodynamic and insight oriented approach to help clients understand how our painful past experiences impact us today. She helps clients gain a sense of safety and understanding of themselves. She approaches each individual with understanding, compassion, non-judgment and genuine care.

Her work with couples has allowed her to facilitate the conversations needed to work through conflict, resentments, and difficult situations in order to build trust. If you are open to be active participants then it is possible to have a long-term, stable, and loving relationship.

As a psychologist of almost 25 years Dr. Duarte also enjoys providing consultation, training and supervision to, clinical psychology doctoral students, post-doctoral psychologists and licensed professionals. She feels passionate about sharing her knowledge and guiding new clinicians in their journey through building a successful private practice from the ground up.

Maria Eguia-Brusco, PhD

Dr. Maria Eguia-Brusco completed her undergraduate degree at Georgetown University and her Doctorate degree in child clinical psychology at Pennsylvania State University. She subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Bradley Hospital’s Early Childhood Clinical Research Center, affiliated with Brown Medical School. Dr. Eguia-Brusco has previously worked in outpatient and inpatient settings, daycare programs, and public and charter schools.

Dr. Eguia-Brusco works primarily with children, adolescents, and young adults. She specializes in depression and anxiety disorders, including separation anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, specific phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Dr. Eguia-Brusco also has particular expertise in (and a passion for) working with schools and families of children with selective mutism.

Finally, Dr. Eguia-Brusco is also available for consultation or to do psychological evaluations. Referral questions may include diagnostic clarification; assessment of cognitive performance, academic skills, and social-emotional functioning; as well as specific concerns regarding ADHD or other mental health conditions.

Allison Mattison, PsyD

Dr. Allison Mattison completed her undergraduate degree at Boston College and her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Hartford. Dr. Mattison has previously worked in outpatient and inpatient settings as well as a clinical day treatment school. She works primarily with children, adolescents, and families conducting therapy and psychological evaluations. She has a strong interest in treating anxiety and depression along with trauma and PTSD. She has expertise in trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy (TF-CBT).

Dr. Mattison also conducts psychological evaluations aimed at clarifying diagnostic presentations, assessing cognitive and intellectual abilities, and evaluating learning disabilities and ADHD.

Claire Nicogossian, PsyD

Dr. Claire Nicogossian completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Early Education and her Master’s degree in Counseling at Marymount University. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The American School of Professional Psychology/Argosy University. Dr. Nicogossian completed her post‑doctoral fellowship at RICBT in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Prior to working in private practice, Dr. Nicogossian worked in a variety of clinical settings, including inpatient, community mental health, forensic and university counseling centers. She works with adolescents, adults, couples and families. Dr. Nicogossian is passionate about well being and self-care for individuals with a special emphasis on mothers, fathers and couples.

Dr. Nicogossian also maintains a website called, Mom’s Wellbeing, a site where mothers can receive knowledge, skills and compassion on self-care during motherhood.

Faith LaMunyon, LICSW

Faith LaMunyon is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with 25 years of experience in helping children, adolescents, and adults. She is passionate about helping others who are feeling stuck and unfulfilled transition to a life of confidence, contentment, and healthy habit change using strengths-based perspective while teaching mindful self-compassion. Faith is especially focused on improving the lives of women navigating midlife challenges and overwhelmed by putting everyone else first. Faith helps women to reset themselves as a priority. She understands the demands that come with being a caregiver in career and family while in midlife. In many ways, her personal experiences help build compassion and understanding. To prioritize self-care, Faith enjoys spending time with family, boot camp with other women, and getting outdoors.

Faith completed her undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Rhode Island and her Masters in Social Work from Rhode Island College. She is trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Faith uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) along with other techniques to assist others in being their best in mind, body, and spirit. Other areas of expertise include grief and loss, faith, and deployment or other issues specific to service members and their families.

Ashley Folgo, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Dr. Folgo is a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who attended the MGH Institute of Health Professions as a Merit Scholar and received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Yale University. She holds Bachelor's Degrees in Psychology, Chemical Dependency and Addiction Studies, and Biology from Rhode Island College and the University of Rhode Island respectively. She has presented her research at national and international conferences and holds numerous publication credits. Dr. Folgo has over 15 years of experience working in the field having worked in the top rated psychiatric hospital in the county, crisis stabilization units, and in a community health center. She has experience working with patients of all ages and from a variety of backgrounds.

Dr. Folgo works to provide a safe, private, and comfortable setting for patients and believes treatment is most effective when she and the patient work together to set treatment goals. She strives to provide holistic, person-centered care and treatment plans may include nutrition, sleep hygiene, psychotherapy, medication management, or other lifestyle changes.

Gabriele Hughes, APRN, PMHNP

Gabriele is a board-certified Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and received her training from the University of Rhode Island. Currently, she has completied her education as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at the University of Saint Joseph. She has maintained a private practice in Rhode Island for more than 12 years and offers psychiatric medication management and psychotherapy.

Drawing from years of experience working with adolescents, adults and families in hospitals, an adult correction institution, community mental health centers and private practice, as a psychiatric provider committed to a collaborative approach to provide clinically effective and comprehensive psychiatric care. Together with a multidisciplinary team, Gabriele has worked with patients with severe, acute and chronic psychiatric disorders such as Butler Hospital in Providence, RI, and the Rhode Island Adult Correctional Institute. She has taught undergraduate nursing students at the University of Rhode and has been a guest speaker at the Rhode Island Student Assistant Program. Her article “Understanding Depression and Anxiety in Celiac Patients” was published in the Rhode Island Nurse. Gabriele’s diversity in training also includes Karuna Reiki Master training, Live Coach training, EMDR training, neuro-feedback and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy training. She has volunteered at Friends Way, which is Bereavement Center for children, the Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County and has served on the Rhode Island Blue Cross/Blue Shield Advisory Committee.

Professionally she remains very committed to several organizations including being a member of: Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Rhode Island, Rhode Island State Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, International Society of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurses and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Barbara Forloney, APRN, CNS, CNP

Barbara Forloney, APRN, CNS, CNP completed her undergraduate degree at Salve Regina University. She received her graduate degree in both Psychiatry/Mental Health and Gerontology at the University of Rhode Island as well as a most recent post graduate certificate as an Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. She has worked in multiple healthcare systems that provide care to older adults including acute care hospitals, assisted living facilities, long term care facilities, and home care agencies. She has provided consultative services in the hospital to both older adults with geriatric syndromes (falls, polypharmacy, delirium) and to patients with behavioral health problems. She has maintained two private practices for 10 years, providing both psychotherapy and medication management. She has also worked inpatient on an acute psychiatric unit and an intensive treatment unit and has learned both the art and science of prescribing for acutely ill individuals.

Barbara has also taught in undergraduate nursing programs and continues as adjunct faculty for the University of Rhode Island. She has invited to lecture in graduate programs at RIC and URI on topics as performing comprehensive geriatric assessment, geriatric psychopharmacology and identification of psychiatric illnesses in primary care practice. She has been involved in research projects that involved mobility in older adults, delirium and nurses ability to identify the differences between anxiety and agitation the purpose of appropriately medicating behaviors. She also enjoys doing health related community lectures related to stress reduction, self-care management and advocacy.

Paula Cofoni, LICSW, LCDP

Paula completed her Masters in Social Work from Boston University and has practicing Licensed Chemical Dependency Professional for numerous years. She has extensive experience working with substance abuse issues with individuals and their families, with the multiple co-occurring disorders, often complicate substance abuse treatment and recovery. She has worked in numerous settings and is experience work with individuals, children, families, and couples. She also loves incorporate alternative of treatment into the clinical setting, including yoga, breathing, and mindfulness practices.

Amanda Bradshaw, MA, CAGS, LMHC, PMHC

Amanda Bradshaw, LMHC is a licensed mental health counselor with over 10 years of experience working with children, adults, families and couples in a wide range of settings. Amanda graduated from Quinnipiac University with a Bachelors of Science degree, and Rhode Island College with a Masters Degree in Agency Counseling and went on to complete her CAGS in Advanced Counseling. She has extensive experience working in acute care settings with a focus on crisis assessment and intervention. She has specialized training through the Trauma Center at Justice Resource Institute and has experience assessing and treating trauma related disorders. Amanda is skilled at Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure and Response prevention, and its application to treating anxiety and OCD. Amanda specializes in treating pregnant/new moms and is particularly interested in working with those individuals experiencing postpartum challenges. She is experienced in helping to heal the trauma related to infertility, neonatal loss and birth trauma. She is skilled at helping mothers/families overcome difficulties in adjusting to motherhood or loss. Amanda regularly incorporates holistic based interventions into her work, emphasizing the benefits of mindfulness, meditation and sensory-based therapies to healing and finding balance.

Matt Tanner, PsyD Post Doctoral Psychotherapist (Supervised)

Dr. Matt Tanner earned his undergraduate degree at Georgia State University. He studied Clinical Psychology at Antioch University New England, where he earned a Master of Science and subsequently a Doctor of Psychology. During his studies, he completed training placements at the Memory and Aging Clinic at Butler Hospital, Bradley Hospital's Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program, and the Rhode Island College Counseling Center. He completed his postdoctoral internship at LUK, Inc., a federally recognized community mental health center in Fitchburg, MA. He is thrilled to join C. Duarte & Associates for his postdoctoral fellowship.

Matt endeavors to provide all clients with an accepting and affirming environment in which they can grow and explore their challenges. A believer in the idea that we are all fellow travelers, Matt takes an integrative, values-based, person-centered approach to therapy that emphasizes creativity and collaboration. He strives both to create a deep understanding of those he works with and to help them achieve a richer understanding of themselves. A generalist, he works with adolescents and adults of all ages across a wide variety of problems, ranging from adjusting to new obstacles and difficulties to mood and anxiety. Matt's specific professional interests include working with clients with trauma and those exploring issues of identity, sexuality, or marginalization.

Jamie Jewett, PhD, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Dr. Jamie Jewett (he/him) is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. As a trauma informed and gender affirming provider, Jamie is known for understanding his patient’s needs in a warm and compassionate way. His work is deeply rooted in thirty years of practice and study of formal mindfulness traditions, yoga, and a prior career as an artist and academic. He is further guided by the perspective inherent in the recovery process - which provides a holistic focus on people and their inherent sanity, and not just their symptoms. He embraces a focus on recovery and health as an often nonlinear journey. Jamie’s practice engages warmth, humor, and curiosity in creating a safe space where the power of vulnerability and genuineness can manifest change. Jamie has a passion for LGBTQ and SGM health He understands that moments of transition in our lives - while often challenging - can provide doorways to more fulfilling lives. He is a strong advocate for his patients. 

Jamie has worked across the lifespan with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients in multiple acute-care inpatient, emergency, and outpatient environments. He attended the University of Rhode Island and the University of Connecticut for his nursing studies. His PhD and second Masters are from Brown University in addition to an MFA from OSU and a BA in Buddhist Philosophy and Dance from Naropa University.
